However, I always knew, the chances of Sevendust visiting the middle-of-nowhere, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan were minimal.
It was the summer of 2016. I had just finished booking my flights and arranging my holiday for British Columbia over my birthday in August.
A few weeks later, I was browsing through Facebook and came across an announcement of a local venue dropping hints of upcoming acts.
One of the hints included a band that has been ‘receiving a lot of Praise as of late’.
Hmmm… could this be? No… there’s no way Sevendust would be coming here… to Saskatoon. I reached out to a few old roadie friends and no one had heard or knew of anything about Sevendust coming to Saskatoon.
I continued on with my summer plans and arranging the final details for my holidays.
A few weeks later, Sevendust released the dates of their first Canadian tour in years.
August 12th, 2016 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Well, holy shit! I am in!
And then it hit me. Even though my Sevendust curse had been lifted – in true fashion, these guys don’t make it ‘easy’ to see a show. I recalled my travel plans and realized I would still be in British Columbia.
So what did I do?
Exactly what any Sevendust lover would do! Even West Jet agreed it was a good idea…
I cut my holidays short and flew home, which proved to be totally worth it. The next day, I was greeted at Sevendust soundcheck with hugs and smiles.
Once again, Sevendust became a spiritual experience for me. I thought about the journey and how each experience was necessary. Had things not happened the way they did over the last near-decade of attempts, it might have not turned out this way. This experience is just one story in the grand scheme of life – proof that with the right mindset and a clear vision, any manifestation is possible.
From one crazy Canadian to you, Sevendust – THANK YOU.
